Wall easel, baby

I’ve been wanting an easel for a long time now, but due to lack of space I haven’t been able to get one.

Having some left over plywood from another project, I went ahead and built a wall easel. With french cleats, mind you.

The build

Routing a 45 degree angle for the french cleats
Used the router for the 45 degree chamfer and a pocket to hold the canvas
Found some drawer pulls and used them to tighten the sliding portion of the canvas clamp

Installed

Here it is installed. The beauty of it is that all the modules like the shelves and the easel itself can be moved left and right or even exchanged.
Might need to add another horizontal rail and a shelf for reference material or the iPad.
